Philadelphia, PA (4/19/22) The Dominican College softball team defeated the Chestnut Hill College Griffins.

The Lady Chargers won Game 3-0 in eight innings, then completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory in Game 2.

DC improved its record to 11-15 (6-6 CACC) on the season.

Game A: Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, BC) started a solid game for the Lady Chargers by going eight shutout innings and recording a career-high 18 strikeouts. wine allowed just three hits in the win.

The Lady Chargers recorded five total hits as a team. Kristine Miscia (Basking Ridge, NJ) went 2-2 with two walks and hit the three-run homer in the eighth inning, which would be the game changer.

Madison Walker (Southampton, NJ) added a brace while Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, MA) and Toni Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) each added a hit.

Victoria Grillo recorded two hits for Chestnut Hill. Steph Tonucci added a hit.

The game was scoreless for the first seven innings. The game’s only runs came in the top of the eighth inning.

After Lopez single and Jenna O’Reilly (Suffern, NY) reached on an error, Mixed hit a three-run homer to give DC the lead. Wiens closed the door late in the eighth inning to complete the win.

Game Of them: DC completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in Game 2. Walker finished with two hits including a home run in the third inning and two RBIs. Lopez finished with two hits in the win.

Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) added two hits and scored an RBI. Adriana Barnes (North Brunswick, NJ) hit a seventh-inning homer that gave DC a run for insurance. Mixed added a hit and an RBI.

The two teams traded runs in the first three innings. DC extended their lead with a three-run rally in the fourth inning. DC never lost their minds from there and provided the sweep.

For the Griffins in Game 2, Lily Reid had two hits, including a home run in the second inning, which put CHC on the board. Steph Tonucci added a hit and two RBIs.

The Lady Chargers will be back in action when they return on Wednesday, April 20 to host Wilmington University. The first match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and the second match will follow at 4:30 p.m.
