CEO of Thrive Agric, Uka Eje just announced via his Twitter account that he resigned from his post of managing director. Adia sowho takes over as interim CEO of the company.

The news comes days after the company faced new allegations from its subscribers about its default of payment. And as it stands, there are discussions that the company might be facing legal action of them.

After issuing several statements trying to appease clients and investors, Thrive Agric took it a step further by making organizational changes to help the business thrive.

Eje who founded the agro-financing platform with Ayodeji Arikawe in 2017 and has led the company since then will now become its Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Sowho who worked as a consultant for Deloitte Consulting and Director, Digitial Business for Etisalat Nigeria becomes the interim CEO of the startup.

She entered the startup scene in 2018 when she became Managing Director, Nigeria and Vice President, Growth at fintech startup, Migo. However, she left the company six months ago.

As interim CEO, Eje says she will guide the company through “a turnaround exercise so that we survive the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the business. “

Likewise, the company has appointed a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with significant experience in finance and a new head of risk management and compliance.

While Eje will no longer be running the day-to-day operations of the company, he is said to be learning under Sowho for the time being. He also had this to say.

“I sincerely apologize to all Thrive Agric subscribers, partners and investors for the communication failures over the past few months. We are committed to maintaining effective communication on the state of affairs with Thrive Agric with all stakeholders in order to regain confidence in ensuring that all subscribers are paid in full.

This delay in payments is not what we wanted in our mission to create a food secure Nigeria. We hope you continue to be patient as we continue to engage with you over the next few days as we roll out the changes to get us back on track. “
