The health district will move the county vaccination site to the main clinic

Washoe County Health District (WCHD) officials said this week they would operate the COVID-19 vaccination clinic behind the wheel of the Reno-Livestock Events Center (RSLEC) for a final week before transferring vaccinations to its location principal of the clinic.

Vaccinations will be performed at RSLEC until December 17, then moved inside the health district clinic located at 1001 E. Ninth Street, Building B. The opening hours of the new vaccination site will be during normal hours from the clinic, Monday to Friday. Appointments can be made by calling 775-328-2427.

District health worker Kevin Dick said that after a full year of immunization at the RSLEC site, community availability of COVID-19 vaccines has expanded significantly, reducing the need for a distribution point.

“The health district, across all of our immunization events, has distributed less than 10% of the total vaccine delivered in the community,” Dick said. “The goal was to support a mass vaccination site until regional pharmacies and community providers build their own vaccination capacities. We believe at this time that the community has taken up this challenge.

Since the county vaccination site opened, staff and volunteers have administered 165,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine and more than 2,500 doses per day during peak activity, officials said.

WCHD will continue to work with community partners, including the Washoe County School District, to deliver immunization events. For more information visit
