New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….

The original story (published August 16, 2022) follows:

Today, a stable Android 13 update went live exclusively for all eligible Google Pixel devices. For others, the update will roll out slowly over the coming months.

There are several new features brought by this update, including app-specific language selection, end-to-end encryption for group chats, and secure clipboard.

Google Pixel menu or home screen freezes after Android 13

Several Google Pixel users are facing an issue after Android 13 update where the menu or home screen freezes when they try to view the Recents menu (1,2,3,4, 5).

The frequency of this phenomenon is higher when using picture-in-picture mode for apps such as YouTube and Google Maps, as the device freezes when you swipe up to access the screen. home while remaining in PiP mode.

The whole device freezes for few minutes due to this and users cannot even restart it.

Multitask. I use it a lot and it always freezes. I was wondering if others are using multitasking, but it’s been a problem for at least a year now. Open a bunch of apps, then hold the navigation bar and push up for recent apps. Sometimes the white gesture navigation bar gets stuck. Other times everything freezes

It happens to me a lot less but it still happens to me. Kind of a ridiculous bug to have though. How are you going to have continuous browsing issues on what’s supposed to be “the smoothest Android experience”

This issue has been affecting Google Pixel owners since the beta testing phase. Now that the stable is out, they are disappointed that this bug still hasn’t been fixed.

Potential Workarounds

Although Google developers have yet to comment on the issue, some users have suggested a few workarounds that fixed this problem for them. First, turn off picture-in-picture mode.

Second, use navigation buttons instead of gestures to avoid the bug.

I use the navigation buttons and have never experienced it. Too bad, but maybe a solution?

The more feedback Google receives about the bug, the sooner they will become aware of its existence and can start working on a fix, so be sure to share your feedback with them.

We will update this story once new events arise on this subject.

Update 1 (October 10, 2022)

3:10 p.m. (IST): According to a Redditor, the Android 13 QPR1 beta fixes the bug where gestures freeze when navigating the device.

Had the gesture bug (freezing problem) for the past 7 months every day. I will have at least 10-15 comments in my reddit history about this issue. After the QPR beta update, I haven’t faced this issue for a week.
