Some browsers have built-in synchronization options that allow users to synchronize tabs and bookmarks with the same browsers installed on different devices. However, these built-in synchronization options are not very useful for users who use alternative browsers on different PCs. For example, you cannot sync open page tabs in Chrome with Edge by selecting the Sync setting in Google’s flagship browser.
Tab Session Manager is a Chrome, Firefox and Edge extension that allows users to sync saved tab groups between these browsers. This is how you can synchronize tabs opened in one browser with another with Tab Session Manager.
How to add Tab Session Manager to your browser
You can add Tab Session Manager to Chrome, Firefox, and Edge from this extension’s pages on the Microsoft, Chrome Web Store, and Firefox Browser Add-ons websites. Click on one of the Tab Session Manager links listed below to open your browser’s download page. Then press the Add to or To have extension buttons on these pages.
You can also add Google Chrome extensions to other Chromium-based browsers. Therefore, the Tab Session Manager Chrome extension is compatible with Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi. Opera has an Install Chrome Extensions add-on that allows you to install Chrome extensions in this browser.
How to save tab sessions in a browser
When you have added Tab Session Manager to a browser, you must first register a tab session to sync. A tab session is any number of web pages open in your browser at any given time. To save tab sessions, launch the browser to which you added Tab Session Manager. Next, open a group of page tabs to save in the browser.
After that click on the Tab session manager in your browser’s URL toolbar. You will need to click on the Extensions button in Chrome and Edge to select this add-on.
Your open tabs will be saved with the name of the selected page in your browser, unless you change it. Click in the text box at the bottom of the extension to enter a different name for the tab session. Then press the Save button shown below. A green Saved Session notification will then flash briefly.
You can manually register any number of different page groups with Tab Session Manager. Double-click on any of the saved tab groups listed in the extension to reopen all the pages they include in your browser. When you have configured the extension to sync them, you will be able to access these saved browsing sessions and open them in other browsers.
How to sync tab sessions between browsers
Tab Session Manager syncs saved tab sessions between browsers by saving them to Google Drive. So you will need a Google account to sync the data. If you do not have such an account, you can create one by clicking on Create an account on the Google login page.
When you have set up an account, you must also enable cloud synchronization in Tab Session Manager as follows:
Open the Tab Session Manager extension before clicking on the Settings button at the top right of the extension.
Select the Save device name in session option. Once you have done this, enter your browser title in the Name of the device box, so you can better identify its saved tab sessions.
Scroll to Enable cloud sync (beta) possibility on the Settings tongue.
press the Login with Google button and select the To permit option for requested permissions. After that, enter the required login details for your Google account.
After completing the above steps, click To permit to grant Google Drive permissions. As an optional step, you can select the Synchronize automatically checkbox under the Enable cloud sync option. Selecting this option will automatically synchronize sessions.
Once you have followed the above, click on the Tab session manager URL toolbar extension button again. Then press the Cloud synchronization button displayed directly below.
You have now synchronized the tab sessions of a browser. You will need to repeat all the above steps for another web browser to sync its page tabs with. Then you can open all the same saved tab sessions in both browsers.
Synchronize saved tab sessions between browsers with Tab Session Manager
Tab Session Manager will make your browsing sessions easily accessible across different browsers. With Tab Session Manager synchronization enabled, you can quickly save and reopen the same group of pages you were viewing in one web browser on another.
Such synchronization can be useful for users who use other Edge, Firefox and Chrome browsers on multiple PCs.
