NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old MBA graduate has been arrested for deceiving women through a marriage website, police said.
The defendant made his profile on the site and began targeting working women on false promises of marriage. Investigators claimed that during video calls he took their nude photos and began to blackmail them into extorting money.
In a complaint, a 32-year-old woman told police she met someone named Sahil Sachdeva, from Uttar Pradesh, through a dating site (BetterHalf.com) in October last year.
“He made false promises to marry her. On her assurance, they started to build their relationship. Sachdeva took her nude photos during video calls and started blackmailing her,” a policeman said. Sachdeva threatened the complainant, saying he would upload all her photos to social media platforms if she did not send him money. In two months, he extorted Rs two lakh from her.
During the investigation, the police discovered that the accused had a habit of changing hiding places. “He was later arrested in the Neb Sarai area,” the officer said.
“We are investigating whether three other women were extorted by him,” the officer said. The mobile phone containing nude photos and videos of more than four girls was found in his possession.
Sachdeva completed her early education from a school in Saharanpur (UP). “After that he got his B.tech Saharanpur and MBA from a university in Jalandhar. He is single and unemployed,” the officer said.
