Carry out commercial actions: edie launches SDG Content and Events Week

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – which define our global priorities and aspirations for 2030 – represent a crucial opportunity to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and protect our planet. Achieving goals requires unprecedented effort across all aspects of society – and business is at the heart of it.

But with only eight years left to realize the ambition of the SDGs, it is clear that companies must step up if we are to have the positive impact on society that the Goals are ultimately intended to generate.

edie’s SDG week is all about driving the transformational action needed to achieve the goals. Held during the official UN Global Goals Week and tied to Climate Week in New York, edie’s week-long think tank will provide essential industry updates, thought leadership discussions and insights. practices that enable business to transform our world through the SDGs framework.

We’ll be delivering a plethora of inspiring digital content throughout the week – led by a high profile online event, a goal-oriented webinar, a downloadable SDG progress report, a special SDG episode of the edie podcast and many exclusive interviews and editorials. Read on for more information on what we have planned.

Interviews and Reviews

Throughout the week, edie’s team will conduct high-level interviews with some of the driving forces aiming to build momentum towards the SDGs, including Paul Polman, Damilola Ogunbiyi, Managing Director of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL ) and representatives from the CFO Coalition for the SDGs and the Business Avengers.

Corporate Action on the SDGs: Inspiration Sessions for Sustainable Development

Sustainability Inspiration Sessions feature an afternoon of presentations and live interactive online discussions, all dedicated to giving businesses the tools and knowledge to maximize their contribution to global goals.

With only eight years left to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 underlying targets, it is clear that businesses must step up if we are to have the positive impact on society for which goals ultimately exist.

How should an organization define its priorities within the framework of the SDGs? How can goals and sub-targets be integrated into existing business strategies to accelerate action? And how can progress towards goals be communicated and reported in a way that maximizes reach and impact? Ultimately, what will it take for companies to achieve the goals by 2030?

This online event effectively combines three edie webinars into a single afternoon, with each webinar session taking on a particular focus and format. The first session (one hour) will be a question-and-answer type debate on the SDGs; the second session (one hour) will be a series of rapid objective-based case studies; and the third session (45 minutes) will take a “masterclass” format.
