BB: Hofstra hosts LIU on Tuesday ahead of four Road Swing games


Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University baseball team, fresh off a series win over the College of Charleston, returns home on Tuesday, April 5 against LIU. Game time at University Field is set for 3:00 p.m.

Hofstra is currently 12-10 this season, while LIU enters the game with a 16-11 record. This will be the team’s fourth meeting this season with the Sharks holding a 2-1 advantage. Hofstra won the first meeting, 6-5, at home on March 2. LIU won 8-4 at University Field on March 6, then won 4-3 in 10 innings at home on March 30.

Hofstra is coming off a dramatic 7-6 victory over Charleston in the series finale on Saturday the by Steve Harrington walk-in home run. It was Harrington’s second game-winning home run of the season and Pride’s third victory. The first came against LIU in the home opener on by Anthony D’Onofrio single winner.

The Sharks come into the game having taken two of Merrimack’s three and earned their own win in the series finale on a two-run homer from EJ Exposito.

Hofstra is 2-2 against the Sharks since LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post merged their sports programs.

After Tuesday’s game, Hofstra will be on the road against Wagner on Wednesday and then at UNCW Friday through Sunday.
